What is CBD

CBD stands for Cannabidiol (Can-a-bid-i-ol). Cannabidiol is a main component of cannabis and in an all natural class of molecules called cannabinoids, found in the plant genus, Cannabis Sativa L. CBD makes up to 40% of the plant and is just one of over 100 compounds found in cannabis (including both hemp and marijuana). Out of all of these compounds, CBD and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) are almost always present in the highest concentrations. They are, therefore, the most researched of all the phytocannabinoids found in cannabis.

CBD is the non-psychoactive component that can hold a wide variety of potential benefits. It does not induce the high feelings that THC does. The human body actually has a system known as the endocannabinoid system.

It utilizes cannabinoids in a variety of ways in the body. CBD oil is the purest form of cannabidiol extract from the hemp or marijuana plant, found in tincture form.

Benefits

There are currently ongoing studies that are investigating the health benefits of CBD. Here are some benefits that current studies have found:

Muscle achness & soreness

Clinical studies are revealing that CBD is a strong natural remedy for a number of ailments. Its healing properties exceed that of commonly used remedies such as curcumin, omega-3, anti-oxidants, vitamin C, and proteolytic enzymes. CBD is thought to be effective at mediating soreness, pain, temperature, and other sensations in the body

Oxidative Stress

It’s known that oxidative stress wreaks havoc on the body. When tissues use oxygen to burn food as fuel, the reaction produces unstable particles known as free radicals, which have negative effects on your tissues. The good news is CBD is believed to possess antioxidant properties exceeding vitamin C or vitamin E in intensity to reduce toxic load.

 Anxiety

CBD may also benefit people with other forms of anxiety, such as social anxiety disorder (SAD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It may help treat anxiety-induced insomnia as well.
